1. Social arraigo

For people who have been in Spain for some time and can prove social integration or certain family ties.

Requirements

  • Having lived in Spain continuously for at least two years.
  • Proof of the relevant family ties or social integration.
  • Sufficient financial means.

Benefits

It allows you to live and work legally in Spain and is renewable.

Social arraigo

2. Socio-employment arraigo

For people who have lived in Spain and have one or more job offers.

Requirements

  • Having lived in Spain for at least two years.
  • One or more job offers adding up to a minimum of 20 hours a week and meeting the corresponding salary conditions.
  • Valid contracts.

Benefits

It does not require full-time work and allows contracts from different employers to be combined.

Socio-employment arraigo

3. Socio-training arraigo

For people who have been in Spain for at least two years and commit to taking recognised training.

Requirements

  • Continuous residence of at least two years.
  • Enrolment or a commitment to take the training.
  • A social integration report where applicable.

Benefits

It allows you to work up to 30 hours a week during the training and to modify it afterwards into a residence and work permit.

Socio-training arraigo

4. Second-chance arraigo

For people who once held a residence authorisation in Spain and lost it.

Requirements

  • Having previously held a residence permit other than arraigo or exceptional circumstances.
  • Having lived in Spain continuously for at least two years.
  • Not having lost the previous authorisation for serious reasons.

Common cases

  • People who were unable to renew.
  • Former partners of EU citizens who did not report their divorce.
  • People who fell out of the legal system for work or personal reasons.

Benefits

It allows you to return to a lawful situation and to live and work in Spain again.

Second-chance arraigo

5. Family arraigo

For parents or guardians of an EU-citizen minor, and for certain cases of support for an EU citizen with a disability.

Common cases

  • The father or mother of a minor who is a national of an EU country.
  • A person who provides legal support to an EU citizen with a disability with whom they live.

Requirements

  • No minimum period of residence in Spain is required.
  • The family tie and cohabitation or financial dependence must be proven.

Benefits

It is granted for five years and allows you to work as an employee or self-employed from the first day.

Arraigo permits allow you to regularise your residence and work in Spain and can open the way to other residence situations, family reunification and Spanish citizenship.

  • The former employment arraigo disappears.
  • The period of continuous residence is reduced to two years.
  • Second-chance and socio-training arraigo are introduced.
  • Socio-training arraigo allows you to work during the training.
  • The scope of family arraigo changes.
  • Arraigo cannot be applied for while you remain an applicant for international protection.
