Work authorisation for students

For students in non-higher education who want to work during their studies in Spain.

Work authorisation for students

For those taking non-higher studies, such as language courses, who want to combine their training with a job in Spain, whether or not it is related to their studies.

Main features

It can be applied for as an employee, with an employment contract, or as a self-employed worker, meeting the requirements of each case.

  • Up to 30 hours a week.
  • The job does not have to be related to the studies.
  • It is tied to the study stay authorisation.
  • It ends when the studies end, unless the stay is renewed; to keep working, it is renewed together with the study permit.

Filing the application

It is filed by the company hiring the student or, for self-employed work, by the student. For employment, the company's representative files the documentation at the Immigration Office or authorises a professional to do so online.

Additional advantages

Working and being registered with Social Security gives access to the public health system, so there is no need to take out private medical insurance to renew the study stay, provided the system's requirements are met.
